Integrating Technology Into the Classroom!

My Students

A typical day in my classroom consists of students coming to class, sitting in their desks, and preparing to take notes. I assign work that can be done with paper and pencil because my students do not have access to technology at home. At the end of the year, it is my hope to have a virtual classroom.

Each child has the unique ability to comprehend but it depends on the educator to deliver the instruction in a format that they understand.

Our school is very supportive when it comes to student learning and growth. My students love anything that has to deal with technology. We do the best with what we have but our school has one computer lab that the entire school has to share. If my students and I had access to Chromebooks in our room, I would be able to incorporate more technology in the classroom.

My Project

My students will use these four Chromebooks to access their learning interventions. The chromebooks will also be used as a resource during class. There are some assignments that students will complete in class but they are not to complete the projects without technology. The interventions that are in place are online but students are limited to computers before school only.

The chromebooks would change our classroom.

A prime example of possible future work would require all students to choose three companies and follow the companies's stock for two weeks. Students will then write a report that shows the trend of the stocks. With chromebooks in the classroom, my students will have the opportunity to learn through a different medium and will be able to research information on their own. Finally, the technology in the classroom will open the opportunity to have classroom chat. Classroom chat is where students will not raise their hand to ask a question but they will send an instant message. It will change the lives of all students by giving an additional opportunity to learn outside the classroom. Classroom management will increase as behavioral issues decrease. This addition will touch the lives of parents, students, and myself in many ways.
