This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Kindergarten is awesome! My students are very eager to learn more and more every day. They are extremely curious and they love to read and engage in Math! I am a Kindergarten, bilingual teacher at a school where most of our students are struggling readers and are one or more years below grade level in reading.
It is my number one priority to get my students reading on grade level, or above and to give them a strong Math foundation so that they are well prepared for first grade.
I am at a low socioeconomic school where many of our students have tremendous learning gaps. Many of our students have difficult home lives, so it is extremely important to provide them with a safe, caring, and positive learning environment.
My Project
My kindergarten students are in need of more technology in the classroom. Having a touch screen laptop would tremendously help us in engaging with online content and materials. At the moment the one laptop that I have is not working properly and is limiting us in learning through online resources and visuals. Due to the devastation of Hurricane Harvey it us very difficult for our school to replace any of the technology that is not properly functioning. My scholars will be able to use this laptop during literacy and math centers to access online games and resources and I will use it to expose them to books and videos that relate to our objective for the day.
