My Students

Our school represents an amazingly diverse population where students want to learn and grow. They create and develop new understandings of the world around them through their experiences. The Arts and Music help our students communicate those thoughts.

Our students and their families come from all over the world in locations such as Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East.

Our students' enthusiasm, energy, and diversity helps drive their curiosity for learning. When provided access to the right tools and materials their creativity can be endless.

Our teachers, families and community members continue to work hard to support all our students' education. Developing mathematical concepts and strategies along with literacy skills and comprehension, help students create a deeper understanding of the world around them. Our students naturally connect reading, writing, math, to social studies, sciences, and arts. When provided with the right tools and support, our students can express their creative voice to the world. In the face of adversity with over 80% of our population receives free and reduced lunches, they learn to express their voice. Though the Arts and Music their voice can be heard.

My Project

All music students become more engaged when playing an instrument. Not all students have a recorder to play.

By providing all music students with an instrument, equitable practices in a virtual environment can happen.

When running a virtual lesson, all students will have the instrument in hand to participate and practice the skills at the same time. This will also provide students with non-tech source of entertainment to explore and develop their own skills.

Composing music and playing an instrument combined complex, cross-modal thinking. Reading and playing a musical composition combines the fluency of reading with mathematical notation. Composing and playing an instrument provides students with a tool to communicate. Music composition provides student expression and voice.
