This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"...And the beat goes on..." as long as we have the instruments to keep it going! We need more percussion equipment for our music programs and for the growing number of students that want to play!

I am very lucky to educate and work with students who are excited and passionate about music!

I teach at two Title 1 schools in CT and my students do not always have access to the same extra curricular activities that other students in a different school may have. The young musicians that I work with are very grateful for the opportunities that they have and participating in a music program is one of them! I have a very supportive administration, but when budgets get cut, and there's no money, there's not much anyone can do. I bring in my own instruments for students to use, but even that isn't enough to satisfy the number of students eager to play. So many schools have cut their instrumental music program, but my students help keep music alive in our schools!

My Project

Every year my programs have more students interested in learning how to play an instrument, and every year I have fewer instruments for these students to use. I have a growing "waiting list" of students that want to play in the band, but can't afford to rent or buy an instrument outside of the school. Our schools provide the option for students to use a school instrument, but we just don't have enough. These percussion pieces will be split between both of the schools I work in to give the opportunity for students interested in percussion to play! Fewer students will have to share instruments, more will be able to take them home, and as a result, the quality of their work will improve. There will be fewer students on the waiting list and many happy musicians!

These instruments will be used in our schools, at home with the musicians, and in our regular performances.

Your donation will help so many students now, and in the future. Everyone deserves the right to a complete education, and that includes a music education! These instruments will help fill a need in two schools and impact twice as many students!
