This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are artists who are bursting with creative talent each day! Thanks to the wonderful donors (aka. you!) on this site, we are getting a new art easel with a built in drying rack (meaning even more art work will be produced). However, we are running out of art supplies quickly!

I am so fortunate to teach 23 fun, loving, charismatic, and intelligent Kindergarten students in a low-income, Title One school in New Mexico.

We serve 100% free lunch and breakfast. Many of my students are learning English as a second language. Budget cuts are making getting essential supplies difficult and we are expecting more cuts soon.

My Project

All students are successful at art. Having open-ended, enjoyable art experiences is necessary to any quality, child-centered early childhood classroom. This is a chance for them to express themselves through non-restrictive open-ended experiences. Art supplies are consumable, and I've gone through most of the supplies we've received on this site because I encourage my students to produce art with enthusiasm and few restrictions, often. Having these supplies will help us continue to draw, paint, collage, and experiment, creating class books while studying genres of art in the literature we love and through our studies of artists both old and new. My students unfortunately are only provided with art for 1 hour per week, every other year. Donors on this site have provided my students with art every day! Getting supplies we need will help us keep this essential program alive each year.
