Instant Van Goghs in Kindergarten! Fun With Art 3

My students need silk collage leaves, silk collage flowers, 2 multicultural paper packs, 2 5 lb packages of scented modeling dough in 4 different colors, 36 number and letter dough stampers and a stand, a set of 6 dough design rollers, a set of 3 dough rollers, a set of 12 child-sized crinkle scissors and stand, acrylic gemstones, flower rhinestones, easy stick glitter sheets, multicultural make-a-face sheets, mirror paper, small seashells, and pom-poms.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach Kindergarten and ESL at a Title One school in New Mexico. I serve a high-need population of very sweet and deserving children. Our school provides 100% free lunch and breakfast.

Due to budget cuts and the No Child Left Behind Act, my students are receiving art classes only every other year and only every other week for 1 hour. This simply is not nearly enough! I am trying to remedy this shortfall by embracing and embellishing an art curriculum that ties into my literacy curriculum. All of my students are extraordinarily creative and art is a strength and desire for them all. Budget cuts allot me with no money to purchase any materials and I feel that art supplies are a priority.

All of my students are successful at art and it needs to be a part of my weekly curriculum. Having art supplies that foster creative, open-ended art experiences will help build self-esteem in my students and will help them across the curriculum. Having necessary collage materials and basic craft and art supplies will make my art curriculum possible.
