Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
8th grade is one of the toughest grades to be in as a young adolescent. They are still kids but are starting to develop into young adults (almost). This is the time where they start to try and mature and yearn to be taken seriously.
My students are an accumulation of first-gen middle schoolers, survivors of unforeseen circumstances, and the embodied will to persevere.
In my classroom, I hope to foster a sense of family. When they step in they know that love and respect are the foundation to grow. They are held to high expectations between each other as the goal is to make the space one where they can be themselves and reach for their highest potential.
I love my students and I know that same feeling is reflected through their relationships with one another and determination to be the best version of themselves.
My Project
The materials asked for will help in everyday tech use in the classroom. A printer in the classroom is a lifesaver! From class copies to student projects waiting for copies can take a few days (an eternity in school days). With a printer in the classroom, we can now instantly have the materials needed!
My district has made the move to supply students with personal laptops, but knowing my students many won't have headphones to be able to use for interactive assignments.
The headphones gifted will help give students accessibility for these multi-model activities. Many of my students need assisted/interactive reading assistance to be able to follow along with reading assignments.
The smallest technologies make a huge difference in a classroom. A chrome cast and a speaker may seem insignificant but make a world a difference when it comes to interactive activities. The speakers of a computer are too low for students to hear, the speaker will give quality sound for spoken readings and poetry. The casting system will be incredibly useful to streamline the content to the students and give opportunity for simultaneous instruction.
