Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are based in Los Angeles Inner city schools. These students come from low income families and are considered to be under-privileged. Our students are very active but like a lot of different activities. Some do not like to participate in major sports due to its competitiveness and choose to participate in other modified activities like pickleball, team handball and ultimate Frisbee.
We implement instant activities for students to have fun and work on their cardiovascular fitness.
The equipment listed will help with providing different instant activities and be used for fun cooperative games.
These activities help promote leadership, cooperation, team work while students increase their fitness level. Our students do not have a lot of space so the equipment listed is for multi use.
My Project
Exercise balls will be for fitness training for abs, legs and arm workouts. The drumsticks can be used to air drum or drum on the exercise ball. We can learn to jam out together and have a fun cardiovascular workout!
The handballs can be used for any games that will promote team work, leadership, respect and integrity.
All while having FUN! Using the handballs will be useful for invasion games and games involving target practice.
The importance is for students to have different options instead of just sport specific options for physical education. Students have responded really well to increasing physical activity through different activities.
