Inspiring Young Readers

My Students

Reading can be hard but keep trying is my motto. Using various types of books to engage my students I hope to find books that make my students become life-long readers, not survival readers!

I have a wonderful group of 6-8 year old students.

When they see an opportunity to help someone in need, they jump right on with no questions asked. As we transition to an e-STEM school, I want my students to have the opportunity to engage in technology to enhance their learning. They get excited about technology and want to use it more in their everyday learning.

My Project

An iPad will help my students be able to have another reason to want to learn. I could use this to help ALL my students develop and enhance their current literacy skills through the use of a variety of apps available on the app store . Students will be able to conduct research projects and create videos. Students will use the iPad daily during literacy block. Along with the development of motor skills that comes from hands-on learning, improved literacy and achievement will make this a very worthwhile investment. With the requested books, my students will gain the knowledge of how an author weaves a story to create images that create pictures in their minds while an author is telling a story. The students will focus on the structure of nonfiction books and how the books are set up to help understand the material being presented.

This donation will allow me to start the year with all the resources necessary to begin teaching my students how to become life-long readers and to find the joy in reading.
