I am seeking funding to purchase 15 copies of Prisoner B-3087 by Alan Gratz for my seventh-grade students. This powerful novel will be available as an option for book club reading groups and will be used in two different units throughout the year.
The goal of the Perseverance Unit is to help students explore how characters overcome challenges, develop resilience, and learn valuable life lessons while strengthening their comprehension and critical thinking skills.
Prisoner B-3087 offers a profound narrative of resilience, making it an ideal choice for this unit.
Additionally, during our Historical Fiction Unit, students could choose to use this book to examine how historical events shape characters and plot. This book provides a compelling account of World War II from a young person’s perspective, helping students connect emotionally and intellectually with history.
By adding Prisoner B-3087 to our classroom library, I aim to provide diverse reading options that engage students, foster empathy, and develop essential literacy skills.
