My Students
I am a Special Education teacher in 12:1:1 setting. My students are creative, energetic and excited to learn. However, most require support through visual/auditory instruction and tactile manipulatives and materials. For many, learning from home has put a damper on typical education and has led to learning regressions. With that being said, due to Covid-19, I will be working remotely this year to instruct, engage, and visit my students through live video sessions. With great hope, I know we can turn on their educational spotlights and continue to help them be excited about learning!
My Project
Despite the difficulties associated with remote learning, I yearn to provide my students the opportunity to view and feel instruction as they would if they were physically in the classroom. Through Google Classroom, Zoom, and additional learning platforms, I would like to provide my students instruction in a differentiated way that will help address their visual and auditory needs, as well as those set forth in their Individualized Education Plans. This, in connection with their need for kinesthetic and tactile instruction, will provide them the opportunity to understand curriculum content presented in an engaging way for all subjects (Phonics, Reading, Writing, and Mathematics). Using the tactile magnetic manipulatives requested on a magnetic dry erase board set up in my home will allow me to deliver content to whole group, small group, and one-on-one intervention. Ultimately, learning will be concrete and tailored to my students needs and presented in a fun way!
