Help me give my students a printer and badges to inspire greatness in the classroom
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Stuchell's classroom raised $335

My Students
My students are your prototypical middle school students. They love to learn (even if they won't admit to it), and they love to have fun (even when they are not supposed to). My students love to learn about the world and are consistently seeking to expand their horizons beyond the four walls of our classroom and the confines of our school. They love to learn and are constantly asking questions about the world around them.
More than 40% of the students at our school come from low-income households.
A further 11% of students are classified as English Language Learners. Nearly 44% of the school identifies as persons of color. Overall the students from our school are a very diverse crowd representative of the neighborhoods in which they come from. Our school serves over 1,500 students who are eager to learn about new and exciting perspectives.
My Project
Full gamification of a classroom requires more than just crazy ideas. It requires a ton of materials to make the world come alive. Things as simple as sticker paper and a printer can make a world of difference between a game becoming fully realized and falling apart. Gamification in the classroom does not mean playing games instead of learning. What it truly means is importing the psychology, methodology, and engaging parts of games and recreating them through a content based lens. In short, take the best parts of video games and games, and then try to recreate that with what you teach.
Few things can replace the momentary wonder that receiving a sticker does for student motivation.
Quite literally students will be willing to work extra hard, or be extra helpful, or extra collaborative if they think they will receive a sticker for it. When you add in these stickers have direct value in the game and actually help modify and bend the rules you develop an immediate need in students to achieve. The 10 packs of sticker paper will allow me to fully engage students in our game with our badging process. It will give them physical rewards as well as rewards in our classroom game.
Going hand in hand with this need to give stickers is the necessity of having a printer which can print them. Having a printer in the classroom is an essential tool of every teacher. The ability to quickly adapt materials and provide appropriate supports in the moment is extremely valuable. Add this to the needs of a printer in gamifying a classroom you have an amazing case for needing a great printer. My hopes are to use these two requests to engage my students.
