Inspiring, Encouraging, and Motivating Through Poetry

Help me give my students poetry books to inspire, encourage, and motivate them to be poets themselves.

My Project

The poetry books I selected for this project will be a part of my classroom library so they are easily accessible for all my students to read throughout the school year. My students will have the opportunity to read the books during silent reading time in reading class and during the day when my students are done with their school work and have some free choice time.

More importantly, the poetry books will be additional resources that will be read aloud to my students and by my students to supplement our poetry units in reading and writing.

Having these amazing books for all my students to read will be a great way to expand their knowledge of the poetry.

What makes my students extra special is they get so excited when they have a variety of ways to expand their knowledge when they have extra time to read during the school day. What I really love is when my students request extra books to take home to read too. I just love seeing the positive benefits of finding the right books that are so full of learning and knowledge building, while being interesting and fun for my students to read. Every week I have multiple students who request to write poems as part of their journal writing time. What a benefit it would be to have so many amazing poetry books available for my students to read so they are inspired even more to be poets.

My goal for Inspiring, Encouraging, and Motivating Through Poetry, is to have a variety of poetry books available for my students to read throughout the school year so their love of poetry continues to grow and flourish for years to come.
