Inspiring Creativity Through The Arts

My students need a Cricut Expression Cutting Machine with accessories, Gel Glitter Pens, Tye Dye Grips, Pencils, Notebooks & Assorted Decorations to write and make books.

My Students

Creating through writing is hard to do, I want to give my third grade students a boost to their imagination and help them write and illustrate stories and books.

My Title I public school is located in a wonderful city in NC that serves one of the largest military bases in the country.

We reach several hundred children with military-connected families, as well as students with military parents who are currently deployed. We have students who have traveled around the world, and some who have never left this city. All economic levels are represented, as well as students with English as their second language. My third grade students do not have many chances outside of our classroom to draw or to appreciate beautiful works of art that illustrate many of the books they read. I would like to integrate art into our daily lessons but need supplies to do this. Art will help my students understand the academic concepts that are needed. Integrating art into Literature, Science, Math, and Social Studies throughout the year will enhance and extend our lessons by providing a product that my students can make.

My Project

I am requesting Cricut supplies along with art supplies to enhance our daily lessons throughout the year. I would like for my students to make their own illustrated books for our Core Curriculum lessons. My students need motivation to write and illustrate stories. The dress up hat collection and the glitter pens will give their imaginations a boost. The notebooks will be used for daily writing journals and for their creative book making. They will use the cut outs from the Cricut machine to decorate their books after they have written their stories. They will need Gel Glitter Pens, Pencils, Paper, and Pencil Grips for their writing center. Becoming artists and authors will help my students comprehend by forming pictures of what they are writing. Having these fun and engaging art supplies for their story writing and illustrating will help my students become better writers. As they are writing and illustrating their own stories they will make connections to authors and artists.

I want to share my love of art with my students throughout the year.

I need these supplies to do this. These supplies will help my students throughout the year in all their subjects. With the help of the Lily Sarah Grace Fund my students' academic lives can be enriched and their learning can be extended by integrating Art within our curriculum. Please help my students become better readers, writers, scientists, and mathematicians by integrating art into our lessons with these resources.
