Inspiring Creativity and Imagination through Art

My students need art materials and art picture books to inspire their creativity and imagination.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Georges's classroom raised $533

This project is fully funded

My Students

Do you know where a great bunch of amazing artists are located? They are in my classroom! They are ready to be inspired and have their creative juices flow! They are eager to put their imaginations to work! They've got the talent, now all they need are the supplies.

My 2nd Grade kiddos are fantastic!

They attend an awesome charter school in Missouri. They are very diverse and have a strong love for learning. They readily demonstrate respect, responsibility, and caring. They also ooze creativity. My kiddos are dreamers. My kiddos are winners! My kiddos are the change that we want to see in this world!

My Project

Many of the children that come into my classroom have never had a rewarding art experience. Many of them have never had new art materials to utilize. Most of them have never seen a book about an artist or been inspired. I want to give my children this opportunity! I have requested a variety of art picture books as well as art materials like paint, oil pastels, chalk pastels, tissue paper, construction paper and etc. I want to create an art center in my classroom that my children can visit daily/weekly. I want them to be able to freely experiment with art materials, investigate art picture books, and create masterpieces that they can be proud of. I want them to realize that art is a way to express themselves. I want them to know that art is unique just like they are. I want them to understand that the art work that they create is a special piece that represents who they are, how they feel, and what they think. I want them to be inspired by art, and to let their imaginations soar!

In 5th grade, I worked extremely hard on a hot air balloon project for my art teacher.

I even weaved a basket to put at the bottom. I was so proud of my work. I brought it in to show my teacher, and she told me that it was the ugliest hot air balloon she had ever seen. It destroyed me. I didn't touch art again until college. I never want my students to feel the same way that I did. I want to give them the opportunity to experience art in an appreciative environment. I want them to have fun.
