This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a Special Education teacher in a Title I priority school. This means that there is very little funding, yet we have a high need for materials to support instruction. My students deserve a chance to excel and strive for excellence. I want them to recognize and work to their full potential. My students struggle with reading and my goal is to assist students to become better readers and gain a love for reading. SPIRE has been proven to help struggling readers to become successful readers. I will conduct small intervention groups using the SPIRE program. This program will allow me to provide my students with foundational skills to enhance their learning.
Helping my students to conquer their challenges in reading will be a life-long accomplishment.
The S.P.I.R.E. program provides significant learning gains in students’ general level of reading achievement, comprehension, and fluency, as well as their retell fluency. This project will help me provide students with the necessary tools to help them become fluent readers and writers. The decodable readers are designed with fully decodable text, controlled for phonics and sight word knowledge. Improving my student's reading skills will help boost their morale and confidence both in class and in life!
