Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help me show children an appreciation of Eastern world arts. I teach art in a public city school to students in grades K-8. We are mainstreaming so classes have some students with autism and special needs.
My students have a limited variety of art supplies. They have been using paper and paint for years and are eager to learn new skills. My students have also commented on the fact that although they have a variety of lessons, they often learn about the same country or theme, such as Hispanic Heritage and African History Months.
I thought it would be beneficial to students to learn about art from another culture not often discussed, such as Chinese culture, while experiencing new art supplies and techniques.
I have no supplies to address the arts from the Eastern world. I could use any type of calligraphy marker or pens with ink, and calligraphy paper so students get the opportunity to do an authentic Calligraphy project. I will teach students how to hold and use calligraphy pens as they write an inspirational poem or saying. I need supplies that help me address State and National Art standards.
You can help children develop an appreciation and respect for other cultures. Please join me in making our Art program an exciting place in which students have fun, inspire others and develop their character.
