My students need two iPod Touch devices to use to facilitate communication, increase independence, and engage students in educational activities.

My Students
Imagine a classroom filled with children actively engaged, collaborating, and creating. You can help make this learning community a reality by bringing two iPod touch devices into an economically disadvantaged classroom.
You would also be contributing to my overarching goal of creating a digital classroom library!
As a second year Special Education Teacher at a very high poverty Title One school, funding is extremely difficult to obtain. I work with over 40 third graders everyday. My students crave technology! There are always lines behind the available computers that we have in our classroom. The kids are a cheerful, and very energetic, group of special needs children and their general education peers. Most of my students enter the third grade reading one or more grade levels behind their peers.
My students are also a transient group, as there are many active duty military families in our large community. We are lucky to have such dedicated families in our school. Due to the transient nature of their parent's jobs, my students need many opportunities to practice important skills such as phonics, reading fluency, and math computations. The small, portable, technology is the answer.
My Project
The technology that I am requesting will motivate my students to do their best, and transfer their skills into the general education setting.
My overarching goal is to create a digital learning library using these devices that the children could access throughout their day. The iPod touch also brings the possibility of interactive educational applications, educational music, and a large range of audiobooks.
My 3rd graders would tremendously benefit from the vicarious experiences the technology brings through digital exploration.
Your help will ensure that a great group of kids have the opportunity to engage in learning with real life, hands-on, technology.
We can give them the chance to experience learning that goes beyond the classroom.
