This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our FIRST robotics competition team, Discovery Polybotz (FRC #9710) is in its second year of existence. Last year, we designed our own shirts with our student-created logo, Dr. Poly, on our Cricut machine. Our students learned how to use the Cricut software and transferred their designs onto shirts, allowing them to represent their own creativity and expression. Through this process, our students learned industry-relevant graphic design skills and applied the techniques they learned in their digital media classes to a real-life application. The students even made fan shirts for staff members and parents that attended the competitions to support them.
These supplies will help our students foster their desire for creative expression by helping us to both make new shirts for team members and increase the number of items we can print on.
This year, our design team is even larger and wants to be able to put Dr. Poly designs on sweatshirts, bandanas and more. Additionally, we will be able to list the logos and names of the organizations that have supported our team on a banner that we can hang up in the pit where our robot is repaired during competition.
