Inspirational Reading for Children of Color

Help me give my students books that challenge their reading skills and inspire them at the same time.

My Students

I teach at a new elementary charter school in the Seattle area, and my students are thirsty to learn and grow in many ways! They are curious to read, write, analyze, organize, compute, create and conquer.

While these 7- and 8-year-olds represent an underserved population, primarily children of color, I will teach to the genius in each of them.

These bright and enthusiastic scholars are learning to empower themselves to make an impact on their community.

Your donation will support a visionary school.

My Project

In my classroom, we will not only be uplifting our reading levels, we will be uplifting our spirits, too.

My students are primarily children of color, and these books provide stories and messages that will uplift their spirits while improving their reading levels.

It's important for students to see books that include people who look like them, including people who have overcome challenges and made the world a better place.

We are planting seeds so that these young learners will one day be young people and then adults who uplift others with their skills, education, empathy, kindness and care for the community.
