This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Shot for wanting an education? Girls are expected not to learn. How is this possible in today's world?
My students live in an urban, low income area near a prestigious college, yet many of them are not witness to educational success stories.
There are many resources the school provides to assist students in being successful, however few of my students access these resources.
My Project
My students will read this inspiring story about a young girl who fought for the rights of young women to go to school and was shot because of it. They will research areas around the world where education is not offered to all and present their research to their classmates. I hope that they will be inspired to partake in their education to achieve their dreams.
This project will show my students that education is often difficult in many parts of the world.
They will gain an appreciation for the free gift they are given in this country and begin the road to achieving their dreams.
