Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students at our small district in the California desert are simply amazing and extremely creative! They enjoy expressing their knowledge, love, and kindness through multiple mediums. We encourage our 5th through 8th grade students to spread kindness throughout their classroom, our school campus, and throughout the community. With this in mind, I have taught students how to create their own personalized designs from scratch and then using equipment from previous projects, they sublimate their designs onto mugs, tumblers, shirts, keychains, etc. The problem we are facing is that our sublimation printer is no longer working since, it was not used for several months, the ink dried up in the print heads which ruined it.

A new sublimation printer will allow students to express their creativity and technical knowledge.

The butcher paper and holder is needed for the sublimating process to ensure that ink is not transferred onto the equipment permanently, therefore ruining it for future use. In future projects in the Lunar New Year, I would love to get blank 65% polyester shirts so that students can design their own shirts and keep inspiring them to love math. They can design shirts for Pi Day, Chinese New Year, and other school events. They can also design shirts for the upcoming holidays like Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, and Father's Day. Thank you for taking a peek at our project.
