Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
These students are going to middle school in an urban setting. At this age they are in need of a good foundation of science in terms knowledge, as well as practical experience. They also are at an age where they are considering much larger questions in terms of life, existence & how the world works.
This is a crucial time in a human life because the middle school years will set the stage for the later teen years & adult life.
It is of the utmost importance that students gain as much experience as possible to build a foundation of knowledge & experience that will be converted into wisdom.
My Project
Students encounter working systems in their daily lives. They see them but do not see how nor why they work. With some guidance & experience, & some systems, students can develop insight into how things work in terms of energy in, energy out, gravity & other forces, as well as how the system (device) orchestrates to do what it does.
The experience gained from using simple devices & learning to analyse how they work is invaluable in sparking interest in science, school & the world.
Using devices not only enhances learning but also acts in a therapeutic role. It is relief from the standard passive learning methods, allows for a more interactive approach to learning & promotes the joy of learning.
