My Project
Having the opportunity work with students in a large range of ages and grade levels is an amazing yet challenging thing. Every student has different needs, interests, stressors, trauma, points of connection, and willingness to receive care and support. One of my goals this year is to dive deep into the relationships with my students to build connections where they feel safe, cared for, and loved not only with me but between each other. While my effort to do this is unwavering, I oftentimes struggle as this is something that needs to be earned and not just granted. In order to have deeper conversations with my students that lead to more meaningful connections and relationships, I am seeking some materials to help put students at ease, help them feel welcome, and pull them in by their interests.
This project contains a mixture of trinkets and tools to help me better engage my students in discussions as I work on helping them navigate their feelings from the inside out.
Often referred to as fidgets or emotional support objects, these items help students put their feelings at ease as they navigate uncomfortable, new, and unexplored feelings and emotions. With your help I will be able to share these trinkets and tools with my students as we continue to build trust, connection and relationships.
