Inquiry Science!

My students need a variety of science materials including Insta Snow, plastic test tubes and racks, funnels, and a variety of books about snowflakes, monarch butterflies, composting, and recycling.

In our full day Kindergarten classroom, we LOVE to learn about our surroundings! On our campus, we are fortunate to have an outdoor science area and several days devoted to nothing but science!!

After taking a science workshop three summers ago, I became enthralled with the idea of teaching through inquiry. The children learn and grow faster as inquirers than through traditional methods of teaching. Now that I have completed my third year of science workshops and have become a science coach for my district, I would like to have more materials in my own classroom so that I can truly practice what I teach!

I am limited each year on the amount of supplies that I can order for my classroom. I have made do with the supplies I currently have and the children are becoming bored with them. We need to jazz things up a bit and encourage the young scientists that are in Kindergarten now to keep science as a life long interest!! These new materials will help me make science even more exciting for my students! Insta-Snow will help us see snow grow right before our eyes! Plastic test tubes will help us conduct Kindergarten level experiments and grow things in our greenhouse! And the science books that I have selected will help us to become knowledgeable about the subjects that we will learn about; recycling, composting, snowflakes, and monarch butterflies!
