I have once heard that “Creativity is thinking up new things. Innovation is doing new things." Being able to have ideas and actually create them is very rewarding. In school we want our students to be motivated about learning and we know that technology helps, but what about my hands-on learners?
I teach 3rd-5th grade hearing impaired students in a low poverty area in Michigan.
I have some of the most creative students. They talk about a lot of things they want to do and try their best with the supplies we have. My goal for them is to teach them how to make their ideas come to life! Some of the lessons I do need to be extended so that every student is pushed to their fullest potential! So when they are making a card or a letter they will be motivated even more to do their best work because they can make things in a more fun and exciting way.
My Project
The materials being requested will be used to integrate the arts into the classroom. Our school is an A+ school where we integrate the Arts in every way that we can. We believe that using such materials in the classroom provides students with the opportunity to use their imagination and grow. The Cricut Explore and accessories will allow my students to create posters, lap-books, cards, and projects for class and proudly display their artwork.
When we engage in what we are naturally suited to do, our work takes on the quality of play and it is play that stimulates creativity.
