I have a fabulous fourth grade classroom, full of energetic and curious nine and ten year old students. At the end of the school year, I want my students to be ready to become future leaders in the school. In order to do this, I would like to have mini Apple iPads with cases and an Apple TV.
I teach at a STEM Academy, which means we focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Our students are very eager to learn and they are hard workers. I have a classroom full of thoughtful, compassionate students. My students care about one another and encourage each other. They work hard to complete their assignments and they take pride in their work.
My administrators set high standards for all students and foster a positive learning environment, allowing our students to be their best. Our students are so proud and respectful of our beautiful campus. When you step on our campus, everyone feels that energizing atmosphere!
My Project
I think it is very important for my students to learn about other places, so I would use the Apple iPad minis to connect with classrooms around the country. My students would create projects to share with students from different regions and backgrounds, and would benefit by learning about other classrooms and students. We would also u mini Apple iPads to create presentations and share those with others. We would use the Apple TV to show presentations from other classrooms and to use apps as a class.
I see my students who struggle with vocabulary using the Apple iPad minis to make mini-movies about the vocabulary words for all the students in the classroom. Finally, I see the Apple iPads helping my struggling students. There are so many ways to use the Apple iPad minis for students who need help with math or reading fluency, having this resource would make a huge impact on my classroom. I am sure that if I show my students these apps at school they will practice them at home as well.
One of my favorite quotes is by Nelson Mandala: “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” I believe that by teaching our students how to use technology, they will take that knowledge and create things that we haven’t dreamed of, using their knowledge to make our world a better place.
It is vital to our society to expose children to this technology, because a lot of my fourth graders will grow up and work in jobs that haven’t even been conceived of now.
