it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I’m thrilled to announce I am a new SPED teacher at John Muir Middle School In San Leandro. I have a diverse classroom, they all have a minor or severe learning disability. We focus in different academic and emotional areas. Students and teachers work together to accomplish goals.
My students range from grades 6-8th grade.
They all have a learning or emotional disability. Most students are performing below grade level. Most of my students in my class have difficulty with their reading and math skills. Many of our students are low income, many do not have access to a computer or Internet at home. Differentiated instruction needs to be provided for students to accomplish their goals. Our school district is on the move to integrate technology into the classroom. However, we haven't accomplished this goal so my students are in need of technical supports.
My Project
Chromebooks in our classroom would be a great resource for our students to be able to research unknown information, watch educational videos, learn how to type, check for spelling and browse all the learning websites the Internet has to offer. Year long, I plan on creating different research projects. Some research projects will include students using Goggle Drive. As they research they can type and create google slides. More important a Chromebook together with an educator can help individualize students needs. For my math class Chromebooks will be a very important tool for our students to watch videos of other teachers teaching the same math concepts that I am trying to teach my students. The School districts offers an online program that is aligned with common core, however, if students don’t have access to a computer's students cannot access program. A color printer to print important projects will also be great to have in our classroom, together with classroom workbooks and supplies.
Our students need to be up to date with 21st-century technology, I am pro-technology, I think we need to prepare our students for the workforce as they will need to be able to assimilate into current technological times.
My students need Chromebooks and other reading and math resources like Literacy Centers Grades 3-5: What Your Other Kids Do During Guided-Reading Groups and Scholastic Success with Reading Comprehension or Take It to Your Seat Math Centers that will be useful tools for students to succeed.
