Innovate, Inspire and Help Create Tomorrow's Scientists C2i

Inspiring students to pursue science as a future career is a challenging task. My students need the forensic kit materials and technology to help solve this pressing classroom problem.

My Students

Can you imagine being the first and perhaps only member of your family to graduate high school and pursue college? This is the path that many of my students face. I must address this pressing classroom problem by providing the necessary materials for my students to be successful college graduates.

Imagine trying to learn about 21st century learning while working with early 20th century facilities.

It does not provide the best atmosphere for my forensic students. My school is in an urban high needs district and does not have adequate resources for my students. My students are wonderful creative people that despite their situation have a positive attitude in life. The majority pf my students live in poverty and qualify for free lunches. They do not have background and exposure to best serve them when pursuing college level classes. Last year I was able to provide them with a science enrichment day at the Rochester Museum of Science. They loved it and I believe this inspired some to pursue their interest in science. We were able to learn about forensic science with an interactive exciting exhibit. However, without the technology and supplies I fear that I cannot give them the best opportunities...that they deserve.

My Project

I am requesting supplies to properly photograph and document a crime scene such as evidence markers and measurement materials. Additionally, my students need hands-on inquiry materials such as a cast of a bullet wound on a rib. Finally, I'd like to have an inquiry based lab with reference materials. All these products will change the lives of all my students.

As a parent and a teacher, I realize the impact education makes on my students.

Science in particular is energizing and engages my students' imaginations. Every day I say to myself, perhaps I am helping one student move forward to a brighter, more hopeful future. Please help me achieve this dream for my students, as well as solve the pressing classroom problem of lower college graduation rates in urban environments. Let's show everyone that my students are important and future college graduates.
