My Project
I am seeking 3-D printers to provide students with hands-on digital learning experiences that involve creativity, enhance critical independent thinking skills and problem solving skills. The printers I am seeking will show my students that their creative works can come to life. Not only can the students use them, but I can see other teachers benefit from using these manipulatives to help with literacy, writing, math, science, etc. It is my hope that these printers will help grow the understanding of the STEM program, and students can gain interest and the valuable skills needed for their jobs, because most if not all jobs can foster a love for innovation and design.
Most of our students reside in a rural community that have limited access to advanced technology and resources.
Despite these challenges, I have showed them some of the 3-D projects I have created from my college career, and they were really interested and showed me so much determination to learn about 3-D printing and told me all of their creative ideas that they could make. By providing these students with 3-D printers we can empower them to transform their ideas into reality, helping them develop skills that are essential for them to benefit academically and personally.
I know as a first year instructor I am asking for quite a bit, but I have taught my technology students that they can't achieve anything if they don't try. So, I am trying and hoping that I can get this grant to help the future of our community and mold future creators!
