This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a kindergarten teacher in a small elementary school in inner city Los Angeles. We have been greatly affected by the budget cuts to education in California. My school is unable to purchase the resources that my students need to learn and to create works of art.

My young students are intelligent and eager to learn.

My students' parents are very hardworking, but are struggling to meet the most basic needs of their children. My students' parents are hardworking, but most are struggling in the difficult economy. It is difficult for them to help our school or provide resources and experiences that would enrich their children's education.

My Project

My students would use the markers, crayons and drawing paper to draw objects and animals as part of our science and social studies units. We would use the cardstock, binding combs and binding machine to create ABC books, family books, number books, and science books in class. We need paper towels to use on a daily basis to clean up after our art activities since our district has stopped providing our classes with paper towels due to the budget cuts in education.

Your generous donation would help my students appreciate art and experience art on a daily basis in every subject area.

They would be able to create books in class and share them with their parents at home.
