This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative and intelligent! I am a Kindergarten teacher at a small inner city public elementary school in a high poverty area of Los Angeles. My Title I school students where 100% receive free lunch. We have been greatly affected by the budget cuts to education in California and we are experiencing more budget cuts this year.

My students deserve to have the resources they need to learn at school.

Please help my young students get the resources they need to become successful!

My Project

Your donation will give my young kindergarten students the tools they need to express themselves through art and more opportunities to create individual works of art on a daily basis. My kindergarteners will use these tools in a variety of academic subjects. My students will use Crayola markers on a daily basis to draw and share their personal experiences. My students will use the construction paper and collage materials to make books, create art collages and to illustrate their ideas.

These experiences will provide a vocabulary for children and a way of helping them talk about their own processes, products, and the works of other artists.

Their engagement with the forms of learning in art—drawing, painting, printing, constructing, modeling, and sculpting—all involve the use and understanding of the following elements and principles within the visual-spatial domain of artistic learning.
