This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a Kindergarten teacher at a small inner city elementary school in a high poverty area of Los Angeles. We have been greatly affected by the budget cuts to education in California. We need more books in our classroom so that my students can learn to read and learn to love reading.

I work at a public school in a high poverty area in Los Angeles.

My students enjoy coming to school and are eager to learn to read and write! They are inquisitive & intelligent. They deserve to have the resources they need to learn to become successful in school.

My Project

I am requesting 37 books that my students will enjoy in school. The Dr. Seuss books will help my students learn about rhyming words and they will enjoy listening to the books being read aloud. The books on water will help supplement our science unit on water. They will learn how water is an important resource that we need to conserve. The books on plants will help them learn about how plants grow and how we can grow our own fruits and vegetables. My students will learn how to read and will develop their love for reading.

Your generous donations will enable my students to become successful readers at school and at home.

They will learn about science and the world around them. Your donation will enable my students to have the resources they need to be successful in school.
