This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach sixth grade science in an inner city school where 95% of the students receive free lunch. My students are mostly Hispanic and speak both Spanish and English.
My students come to me with limited science experience. We have a lot of catching up to do. Some of my students are not even aware of the major bodies of water that are within miles of their homes.
My students would gain so much knowledge and understanding from a pond in their classroom. They would be able to see an entire ecosystem right in the room. One of our units is how organisms interact with each other in their ecosystem. This pond would provide the perfect opportunity to get hands on experience with an ecosystem.
Your generosity would be able to provide my students with an awesome, on going learning experience. I thank you in advance for thinking of my students. They are very gracious that you have thought of them. Thank you again.
