My Students
Welcome to Mrs. Cobb's Pre-Algebra and Algebra I courses. In this class, students are engaged in rigorous lessons in an effort to become some of the top students, not only in the city of Washington, DC, but in the nation as well. My students come from low-income backgrounds and cannot afford the basic necessities as their high achieving counterparts can.
My students should not feel hindered or restricted on the ladder of success because of their limited access.
To make this happen, we need to follow the adage of 'it takes a village to raise a child'. Please help my students reach their goals, not only in school, but in life as well.
My Project
Because math is increasingly gearing many activities towards STEM, there is a requirement for students to understand how to navigate technology as they learn math. They need to build the fluency in technology to continue growing and thriving as 21-century students who will one day lead the world.
While math is still complex, it is quickly becoming an area of intrigue and excitement for students who have demonstrated an adversity towards the content.
Testing requirements are also changing as many students are now required to take standardized test via computers. I want my students to be prepared for these exams and develop their love of the subject by having access to technology.
