This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Whole group instruction does not provide differentiation and individualized learning for my scholars, who range from emergent readers to fluent, chapter-book readers. Small group instruction, with practice on technology usage, will maximize the learning for these scholars who are eager to learn.
My students hail from diverse backgrounds, from "military brats" to longshoremen offspring, to families who have lived in the neighborhood of our school community for decades.
Because of this, our school is considered a transient school with many students coming in and out, based on where their parents need to be. This causes inconsistency in their learning, and often the students suffer and lose out on the learning. Nevertheless, they are eager to work together and learn, absorb what's happening in the classroom, and yearn to belong. Providing these scholars with consistent small group instruction, with this technology component, will enhance their learning and maximize each learning minute individualized to each student's specific needs. They will benefit greatly from the usage of technology in the classroom environment on a daily basis.
My Project
2nd graders are multi-sensory learners who need to write and touch in order to learn and absorb. This much-needed project is simply to provide my current and future classes the simplest technology needed to do the day-to-day functions in the classroom and at home. With this printer and the ink cartridges, then I will be able to print their finished writing projects and essays, provide supplemental worksheets and practice for those "at-risk" students, and challenge my most advanced students with more fun, hands-on project-based activities through printing out the most basic instruction and directions.
