My Students
How would you feel if you created something you were proud of on the computer but you were unable to print it, because there was no toner in the classroom printer? Or imagine being one of 100 teachers needing copies for homework and there is only one copy machine in the office.
There are 18 energetic three and four year old children in my class.
Our school includes students from pre-k to eighth grade. It is in a high poverty area and about 95% of the student in the school receive free lunch. Our school is in a low-income neighborhood where the budget cuts have left no hope that materials will be purchased in the near future.
My Project
Our classroom needs toner and paper for the students and I to use with our classroom printer. The students work on the classroom computer and they create great art work on it. Being able to print their work would make it easier for me to assess it and then they could bring it home to share with their families. The printer supplies would also be helpful to me. I would use it to print students' homework, write letters to the parents who do not have access to email and to copy important documents.
Donors helped us get a classroom printer but now we're running low on toner.
Without toner for the printer, students wont be able to print their work from the computer and I will have to continue to beg and plead for copies from the office.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
