This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are considered a Title I school, and 95% of our students qualify for free lunch. Our school is located in South Central Los Angeles, and we service 60% Latino/Hispanic and 40% African American students.
Recently, there has been an influx of Central Americans that have enrolled, which means we need to provide our students with more language support.
Along with language support, we need to provide students with emotional and social learning tools.
We provide instruction for grades PreK-5th, and our current school population is about 450 students.
My Project
With the recent closure of our schools I need to print from home on a more frequent basis. Students submit their assignment online and I'm printing them from home so that I can provide corrective feedback for parents and students. I also need to print intervention forms and other material that will support student learning. The price of ink and paper has become relatively high and I find myself spending a lot of money to maintain instruction online while working from home. This is something our students need in order to stay motivated.
