Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in a city where crime rates are high, and there is a 98% poverty rate. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with the same creative and meaningful learning experiences that other students are able to have.

Although I may not be able to control their home lives, I can certainly control their experiences during the school day.

By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My students, although only three and four years old, are hard workers, and they deserve to come to school and feel safe and loved, and I'm happy to be the one who is able to give them that.

My Project

Printer ink is very important to our classroom because that's how the children get their homemade education games made by the teachers. They have specific centers that they rotate through each day. These centers consist of science, math, ABC, and art. The homemade games could be lily pads with printed addition problems on them so the children can add or they could be papers with letters that we've learned so they can match the letters to letter blocks. Perhaps the teachers will print a picture of a farm and a forest with printed farm animals and forest animals so that students can Velcro the appropriate animal to its home. There are endless possibilities for homemade education games as long as there are the means to do make them. We need printer ink so that the children can make sturdy beautiful artwork that they can look back on for years to come.

Having printer ink to make homemade education games for the children will improve the children's sense of independence, participation, and critical thinking.

It will help the children have a love for creative learning and not just learning from a book. Ink will provide the chance to have hands-on learning.

My students also need laminating paper to make projects stronger and last for a lifetime! We use laminating paper weekly and are almost out of our supply!
