This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Third graders publish many times during the school year. They also do a lot of research for their reading and writing units. Many times, this research is done online on educational sites. Students need to be able to print their writing pieces and the information they obtain.
You know that feeling- needing to print an important document and running out of ink or paper.
Your job is pending. We can not afford for that to happen. We need ink.
My third graders are energetic, kind, and motivated children eager to learn. They attend a high needs school in the Big Apple. This will be my ninth year teaching at this school. I teach an average of 30 students each year. My classroom needs to have replacement ink cartridges.
My Project
We need ink in order to publish our work and print the information we need for our research. Students publish their written pieces many times throughout the year. Many times, they prefer to type their work, especially those that have fine-motor skill issues. They need a working printer in order to share their work with others. Third graders also use educational sites on the internet to obtain research for various projects. They need to be able to print the information.
It is essential that students have access to a variety of learning materials.
The Common Core Learning Standards hold third graders accountable for doing research and citing the sources in their work. Therefore, they need access to materials they obtain from educational sites. They need to be able to print the material in order to read and analyze it.
