This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach wonderful second graders! I am currently a second-grade Gifted and Talented teacher. My students are so eager to learn. They enjoy working together and digging deeper to learn more about a topic. In our classroom, we do a lot of group work. We also do a lot of hands-on learning and project-based learning. This means that we research topics and create group projects in order to deepen our knowledge of a topic. They are wonderful children who deserve to have all the materials they need in order to succeed.
My Project
The students need to have materials readily available to them at all times. Having the printer in the room allows the students more opportunities to create. I can have the students type their work, create PowerPoint presentations, or research various topics and have the access and ability to print out their projects. The ink for our printer can be extremely expensive. There are times when we do not have ink for our printer. Without the ink, I cannot offer the students the ability to print and see their beautiful work hung up in the classroom. Additional ink allows the students to do more project-based activities. This would help tremendously in my classroom. I am able to print materials that are challenging for my students. The students can use the materials to learn about community service workers in our next social studies unit.
