My class is a group of super energetic five and six year olds who love learning! They love to prove what they know in math and are so eager to improve their reading skills! We are a Title 1 school in a large urban district in Missouri where a large percentage of the children come from very low income households and receive breakfast and lunch here at school. The parents of my students care deeply for their children and do all they can to provide for them.
Like any teacher, I want the best for my students and will do all I can to ensure that they learn to their fullest potential.
Kindergarten aged students are such a joy to teach. They truly are little sponges and soak up so much information. Knowing the difficult environments that some of my students come from makes me want to try to compensate wherever possible in order to help them be as successful in learning as they can be.
My Project
My class and I are embarking on several new adventures this year which include setting up house in a new classroom and beginning a new writing program! I am very excited for my students to learn to write and become authors! Having the Brother MFCJ885DW Color Inkjet Printer in our classroom would be an amazing "next level" tool to use as students take their final drafts and create their own text on iPads or desktop computers! It will also be used in creating class books in which every child contributes by writing a page of a themed book.
What a thrill it will be for them to experience the excitement and pride of having published their own piece of literature!
Having the ability to print the children's text and artwork would be fantastic! Currently,I only have access to a monochrome printer at school.
Educational experiences like this are very empowering and motivating for my young learners. An added bonus will be when they take the book home and read it to their family members! Extra reading practice!
