Infosys Foundation USA’s Pathfinders Summer Institute Maker Educator Collective Bootcamp
I need funding to help me attend the Infosys Foundation USA’s Pathfinders Summer Institute 2018 specifically the Maker Educator Collective Bootcamp, which will help me to create a makerspace at my school.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Blitman's classroom raised $2,422
This project is fully funded
My Students
The students I am teaching range from the very high achieving to students in an extended resource room setting. All students in grades K-5 would have access to this makerspace when created.
I have always striven to create lessons in which students forget they are actually learning.
I have always wanted to have a place at school in which the students lead the way in their learning, and I believe that this can happen in a makerspace. The tinkering and collaboration that can occur in a makerspace will greatly enhance the already excellent education the students participate in at my school.
My Project
I hoping to learn enough at the Maker Educator Collective Bootcamp, in combination with previous training that I have had that I will be able to create a lasting legacy at my school.
The central thesis about makerspaces is that children should engage in tinkering and making because they are powerful ways to learn.
Since this request is to provide the funding for me to attend the Maker Educator Collective Bootcamp, my vision is that the training I receive will allow me to effectively gather the knowledge and materials to create a makerspace at my school. I would also hope to inspire other teachers at my school to follow this same path.
