My students are creative thinkers! They have great ideas and love to learn. They deserve the best education and classroom that I can give them! They come from a wide range of backgrounds and I love to see them all work and learn together.
My students love to investigate and solve problems.
I am looking to add STEM, science materials and hands on math materials to my classroom. These materials will help them to extend their thinking. They will be able to solve problems while they are having fun.
My Project
I am looking to add STEM activities to our classroom during free time. Due to the climate we live in, our students do not always get to get outside for recess. They are often stuck in the classroom with few activities to do. Adding student guided STEM resources will add creative thinking and problem solving during free time.
Students do not have enough time to freely explore, collaborate and learn through play.
With the Snap Circuit Sets the students will have the chance to learn what they have been taught about electricity to explore. They will be able to follow directions to create circuits that create light, sound and movement. They will have to problem solve if their circuit does not work. They will also get to explore and make their own working circuits. Using the KINEX building system students will explore simple machines. The KINEX system will allow them to solve problems by building working simple machines. Legos were chosen to help math skills such as fractions. Students will be given task cards and will have to solve problems with their Legos. This helps students visualize parts and wholes. Lego blocks can also be used as visuals to solve word problems. All of these materials are exciting and students will look forward to using them.
I have added several games to my request. These games were picked because they help students develop problem solving and reasoning skills. Some of the games will also develop hand-eye coordination and interpersonal skills. Other games will help students use deductive reasoning and logic. I also picked these games so students can work with others to solve problems.
I am looking forward to using these new materials. Students will be learning during indoor recess while they are having fun!
