This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach Science to my entire Middle School at our amazing small rural district. I teach a genetics unit and each year I provide cuttings of current plants in my classroom. After the unit many of my students want to take them home and continue the growth cycle in their own homes. My dilemma is that I only have a couple of plants for students to choose from. My goal is to have a variety of plants that excite students to learn more about the benefits of having indoor plants.

Plants give a calmness and air purification that invites students to want to grow their own indoor greenery for a lifetime.

Not only do students enjoy my genetics unit, but the excitement that growing their own plants brings is an amazing sight to see. These plants will help in the variety that I will be able to provide my students not only during the unit, but after as well. You would be amazed at how many students want to bring these "cuttings" home to continue the growth cycle in their own homes. Lastly, I love that these plants bring warmth and air purification into my classroom which I absolutely love. Thankyou for considering this request and blessing my students. Best!
