Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school has just over 550 students that come from a diverse community. Most students are English Language Learners. We are a Title I school that has unfortunately also been in Program Improvement for over 5 years. Most of the students in our community do not have access to technology at home.
My students are in the third grade and come to school eager to learn.
They are excited about school, playing at recess, and anything that has to do with technology. They love spending time with their friends and family. They deserve the same opportunities and resources that students in other communities have.
My Project
We always talk about how every student has a different set of needs, but yet they are only provided with the same generic desk. The supplies will help give me the materials to allow students different flexible seating options. Some students may just need a way to get out the wiggles, and some may want to find a completely different space around the room. Lap desks, yoga mats, fidget options can all be used to help a child be ready to learn. If they are having a hard time staying focused, they will have a hard time learning.
With this donation, my students will be able to choose the space or tools that what will help them be in the best mindset for learning.
Some materials will help us set up systems that allow for consistency and structure.
It will change the way our classroom works and how students interact with the classroom. Without these materials it will be hard to provide what each individual student needs to succeed.
