Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
You'll be hard pressed to find students working harder under challenging conditions than my students. They are still young children. Most are not only learning what is expected of them for our state standards, but also learning English. They live in difficult situations and many face food insecurity. These eight-year-old children have faced more challenges in their young lives than most adults have done.
None of their challenges slow them down though!
They are thrilled to come to school, full of questions and wonders, and excited to learn together. Each day is a new adventure and new opportunity in their eyes.
My Project
Our school has worked hard to provide laptops for every student in the upper grades. Students are able to publish writing, create presentation, collaborate on projects, and practice a wide range of skills on these laptops.
Having enough headphones for every student, will allow them to listen to books on their laptops, listen to each others' projects and recordings, and play various games to practice skills, all without interrupting their classmates.
Many students provided headphones as part of their supplies, but we do not have enough for all. This limits what they are able to do with their laptops.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
