This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work with students with autism. During the COVID-19 pandemic, my students were unable to access the activities and materials they needed to succeed socially, emotionally, and academically. They lacked tools to support their understanding of how to process emotions and self-regulate which is why things like calming strips and visual supports can aid in their acquisition of such skills. My students thrive off of individualized, hands-on, high-interest materials to access their daily instruction. Laminating sheets and velcro are a major part of our classroom that allow myself and paraprofessionals to create these specific materials for each student.
