Help me give my students personalized and individualized weighted lap pads. The equipment will help us make the weighted lap pad for each child that needs it for grounding and focus.
I serve children in pre-kindergarten with special needs and developmental delays. These little ones are just entering the academic environment and learning the fundamental skills in order to become successful in school. Each of my students has unique strengths and needs and benefit from a multi-sensory approach to learning.
My students enjoy playful learning, hands-on experiences, and exploring.
While each child develops at his or her own pace, I help my students develop school readiness skills and strategies so they thrive throughout their academic adventures.
My Project
Weighted items are often requested by teachers to help kids who are fidgety, restless, and unfocused. Weighted lap pads provide proprioceptive input and improves focus for kids with ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder & Autism. Weighted items, including vests, lap pads, and neck wraps, are known to help children to focus by providing Proprioceptive input. Proprioception, which is deep pressure touch, is soothing to a child because it can help a child to realize where their body is in space and produce a relaxed, calm feeling.
This equipment will be used for students in order to make individualized weighted lap pads catering to that individual child.
