My Students

Each day I have the great privilege of teaching eleven three- and four-year-old students. Through play, we learn math and literacy content, but also important language and life skills. We learn to communicate our needs, build enduring friendships, and be proud of who we are and who we are becoming.

We are a tight-knit Pre-K classroom located in a public school in the southeast quadrant of Washington, DC.

The community surrounding our school has many needs. Yet in spite of their challenges, my students arrive each day eager to learn, create, and prepare for the wider world.

My Project

Each individual in our Pre-Kindergarten class is a unique learner with their own interests, strengths and needs. Some students excel at sorting, while others are gifted at puzzles. Just like how some students need additional practice with 2D shapes, while other students are learning about manipulating shapes to create new shapes. To address this, I create individualized binders for each student that is used for independent work in the morning.

This year I have an even bigger amount of variety of student interests and needs, so I am requesting materials to help update our individualized binders.

Your donation will allow my students the opportunity to have work individualized for their interests and needs. I am requesting a gift card from Teachers Pay Teachers so I can expand our work binders to include things related to our current study, as well as things that interest particular students. The printer ink will be used to print pictures in color and the velcro will be used to make these pictures interactive, so that students can manipulate the pictures to work on their own individual learning goals. And the bins will help keep our materials all organized, so it is easy to swap out pages in each binder.
